Many parents fear the potential dangers that their children face every time they climb into a vehicle. Sometimes, however, children are put at just as much risk by simply walking down the street. Police in one Missouri community know just how dangerous pedestrian accidents can be in the wake of a hit-and-run collision, which left an 11-year-old girl with injuries.
Authorities are now appealing to the public for more information about the hit-and-run accident. According to them, the little girl was walking near a Dollar General store when a white car apparently hit her.
A police officer says it appeared that a teenage girl had been driving the white car at the time that the accident took place. She may also have had a teenage boy as a passenger. He asks that anyone with information relating to the accident contact authorities.
While reports indicate that the girl’s mother transported her to the Hospital for treatment, there is no immediate word on her condition.
Unfortunately, the young girl’s family will likely face medical bills associated with her treatment for the injuries sustained in the accident. However, Missouri personal injury law provides victims of pedestrian accidents, like this one, the chance to claim reimbursement for their medical and other related expenses in civil court. If negligence on the part of another party is established, any monetary award that results can help take financial stress off the young girl’s parents as they focus on helping their child fully recover.
Missouri residents who are injured as a result of another person’s reckless behavior may find it helpful to consult with an experienced personal injury attorney.
