Four Missouri residents were injured in two road accidents in St. Francois County on a recent Sunday. Both incidents were motorcycle accidents that, reportedly, could have been avoided. The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported that the first crash involved a single motorcycle, while the accident later that day involved two quad bikes.
Shortly after 9 a.m. on a Sunday morning, a 64-year-old Doe Run resident with a passenger was traveling north on Route B. As he entered a right turn, he allegedly failed to maintain control of the motorcycle and went down a steep embankment. Both the rider and his 65-year-old passenger suffered serious injuries, and they were both airlifted to a hospital.
At 4 p.m. that afternoon, a 16-year-old driver of a quad bike failed to maintain his traffic lane when he was traveling north on a Goose Creek road. He reportedly veered into the southbound lane where he struck another quad bike head-on. Both riders were seriously injured, and they were taken to hospitals by emergency helicopters.
Both these motorcycle accidents were reportedly caused by riders failing to maintain proper control of their bikes, and the two injured victims of these crashes may take actions to hold them accountable for damages sustained. Personal injury claims may be filed in a Missouri civil court, and, in each case, the plaintiff will have to establish negligence before the court. This will allow the court to enter monetary judgments to cover documented claims for financial losses, such as medical expenses, and emotional damages, such as pain and suffering, that were brought about by the accidents.
