The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported a Washington woman died July 6, 2013 when her SUV ran off Interstate 44 in Jasper County, four miles east of Carthage.
According to the report, Brenda Richards, 44, was driving westbound on Interstate 44 when she lost control of her 1998 Chevrolet Blazer. The vehicle ran off the right side of the highway. Richards tried to regain control however the SUV travelled across the road and overturned in the median. Richards was not wearing a safety belt and was pronounced dead at the scene.
