Many Missouri car accidents occur close to home

Car accidents can occur anywhere, but especially close to home. A Missouri driver becomes accustomed to the routine drive home, but that drive can be changed in an instant when a negligent driver gets in the way. Recently in Butler County, a beloved teacher near her home became a victim in one of these tragic car accidents.

Recently, at 5:45 p.m., a woman, age 50, was driving northbound on Highway F in a sedan. At that moment, a 34-year-old man driving a truck northbound on County Road 484 allegedly failed to stop at a stop sign, ultimately causing the two vehicles to collide. According to a local sergeant, the man was pulling a trailer with five ATVs. He had been at an event at a nearby off-road park. Authorities are looking into whether alcohol had any part in this accident.

The driver of the truck and his female passenger suffered serious injuries and were taken to a nearby hospital. No further information has been released concerning their injuries. The woman driving the sedan was also taken to the hospital; her spinal cord was severed around the base of her neck. Tragically, she is paralyzed from the neck down.

If the man who was driving the truck is found to be negligent, the woman and her family may choose to pursue compensation for her severe injuries. In Missouri, compensation for victims in car accidents is an option.
