A young man who would have been a senior this fall at the University of Missouri died recently from the injuries he sustained in a two-car crash. The accident also took the life of a 50-year-old man.
Few details are known about the fatal accident except that it occurred in northern Wisconsin. The young man was a passenger in a vehicle being driven by another 21-year-old man.
The 21-year-old victim has been remembered fondly. He has been praised for his “big heart” and signature smile. A rally was held at the MU Recreation Center recently. Those in attendance took a moment to remember the former student.
A fatal car accident is always tragic. However, when someone so young and with such promise dies, it is even more devastating.
It is not clear what caused the accident. However, drivers who are inattentive, distracted or driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs are much more likely to cause fatal accidents. A negligent driver can cause debilitating injuries and even death.
Family members who lose a loved one in a crash are often overcome by grief. They may feel helpless. However, they have legal options to pursue. A family may wish to file a wrongful death lawsuit against the negligent party. After all, drivers who engage in reckless behavior and harm others in the process should be held responsible.
Missouri families who have lost a loved one in an accident as the result of another driver’s negligent behavior would be wise to consult with an experienced attorney. An attorney will fight to get families the compensation they deserve.
